"At the beginning of the year we were fortunate to get some much needed rainfall, this helped to fill the lagoon. The docent we met the day we painted here mentioned the break- through from the ocean to the lagoon that occurred a few weeks prior. This helped to replenish this nature habitat. These large majestic trees are only remnants of their former glorious selves, but are still beautiful and graceful. Blue herons, Snowy Egrets, Cormorants and other water birds can be seen all year around. This is a favorite location for birds watchers. "
The Wildling Museum is excited to welcome Holly Hungett as its current Featured Local Artist and to offer her artwork online and in its Museum Gift Store.
Holly Hungett considers herself to be primarily a pleinair painter who loves being outside in all conditions, feeling the air, wind, smells and sounds.
“Often something in the scene grabs my attention and reminds me to be still and present with the earth, my body and breath. When that happens, I feel like I am in a heightened state of FLOW. These times don’t happen each time…, but when they do occur, they are magical and healing. I hope that some of that feeling of ‘stopping, breathing and being still’ will be transmitted through my paintings.”
She has lived in the Santa Barbara area with her husband since 1986 and cites a lifelong love for nature, as well as the long-term practice of yoga, movement and healing bodywork as influences in her artwork and sensitivities.
Holly’s artworks are available for pick-up only (from the Wildling Museum in Solvang, CA) after online purchase. All artwork is sold framed – the unframed image is included in the product listing only to show the actual artwork more clearly.
