Do you remember how easily you perceived the magic of the natural world when you were a child?
Recapture the world that is right in front of you.
This book is hard to describe because it does so many things well. Each page contains Katie Daisy's uplifting and inspiring artwork, but one might contain a quote about nature, while another might leave a space for your pressed flowers. There are illustrations of poisonous plants, instructions for making a wildflower bouquet, a list of hot springs to visit. And advice as to how to be wild: "Lie in a lavender field", or "If you're a painter, try using water from the sea or river. It will add a swirl of magic to your art." Or, simply, "Keep chickens." There are even recipes for yummy things you might make from fruit off a vine. And all of this with a background of vibrant art. While not classified as a children's book, it would be wonderful to share it with a child, who might appreciate its colorful illustrations and whimsical spirit.
After a year of COVID, this book reminds us that the natural world and all its wonders is still there for us to take in and nourish our souls in a variety of ways. It's a feast for the eyes and heart.
